NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A 33-year old Indianola man went before Judge Anne Paine in a Red Willow County courtroom, Tuesday. Alva Clinton Decker III is accused of shooting and killing 30-year-old Steven Weaver on October 8th.

Decker is accused of “purposely and with deliberate and premeditated malice” going after Weaver. He, alongside 36-year-old Charles Decker, are said to have “conspired” to kill Weaver. Charles Decker, however, died in a wreck on Highway 6/36 at mile marker 96.

Weaver died at the same location. Alva Decker is now housed in the Red Willow County Jail with no bond. He is accused of shooting Weaver at the scene of the accident where Charles Decker died.

Alva Decker faces three felony counts. He faces:

  • Murder in the First Degree
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
  • Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony

Court records show Steven Weaver was in an ongoing case in Red Willow County on allegations of sexual assault of a child. Weaver is also listed as a registered sex offender in Nebraska.

Alva Decker is set to be in court again on November 3 at 10:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
