Enjoy one last warm day
Temperatures drastically drop for the weekend
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - We should be able to squeeze out another mild day before temperatures take a tumble this weekend. A cold front, originating from the Pacific, will sweep through the region on Thursday. The air behind the front will not be radically colder so we should be able to achieve temperatures in the 60s /70s. Again where will be high level cloudiness mixing in with sunshine which may limit today’s warm up to a degree. No precipitation is expect.
A storm system will track into the Great Plains this weekend but again this system will be drawing pacific air with it, suggesting there will be little moisture for the storm to work with. Long range forecast models over the last 24 hours have reached a consensus trending drier conditions for the Panhandle and Sandhills, while focusing rain chances into Eastern Nebraska, with the more widespread coverage over Kansas. Temperatures will turn colder with highs dropping into the 40s with just small chances for rain or a snow shower.
Here is a look at the next three day temperature lows. Saturday will be a cloudy day with cooler lows on Sunday.
