Extreme heat shifts to the south...
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Triple digit heat will continue into Thursday, but mainly in the southernmost part of the Great Nebraska region and extending into Eastern Nebraska. A stationary front will be draped near the Interstate-80 corridor with the low to mid 100s expected to the south of the front with 90s to the north.
A HEAT ADVISORY will again be posted for heat indices approaching 106 degree Thursday afternoon into the evening for the southernmost counties of Southwest Nebraska extending across south central areas through the far east.
A few thunderstorms are possible along the front Thursday evening. Temperatures will moderate by Friday as the front sags south with temps through Saturday a little more seasonal in the upper 80s to lower 90s. A refreshing shot of cooler air will make for some very pleasant conditions Sunday through Tuesday with temps actually falling into the upper 70s and lower 80s. The best chance for rain will come on Father’s day with scattered thunderstorms possible.
