NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On June 17, people came together at Harvest Christian Fellowship to promote unity through prayer in North Platte. As a part of NEBRASKAland Days, there is a prayer breakfast hosted with the current mayor. Many residents began their day with Mayor Kelliher’s words of encouragement and his prayer of unity. Brenda Lee, a chaplain at Great Plains Health, also shared words about hope for the future.

“It is really a fulfilling day to hear all these great speakers speak. I believe our souls are in better shape than they were yesterday,” said Mayor Brandon Kelliher.

During the breakfast, there was special recognition to the first responders and veterans. Attendees applauded them in gratitude for their service.

The highlight of the prayer breakfast was staying united as one city and remembering the importance of prayer.

“As people, it is important we refill our spiritual cup every once in a while,” said Mayor Kelliher. “We have to know that we have that inner strength that lets us move forward through the toughest of times. We have been through a very tough time in our world. We all need days like this so that we can refill.”

This is the 56th prayer breakfast that has been held during NEBRASKALAND days.
