Turning down the heat....
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP)- If you were fearing a meltdown, there’s good news. Temperatures are gradually going to be turning cooler through the weekend into next week. Over the next couple of days. a lazy front draped over Southern Nebraska will sag south followed by a secondary cool front that will drop in from the north.
Friday and Saturday’s high temperatures will “cool” into the upper 80s to lower 90s, which may not be exactly ‘hoodie’ weather, but will certainly be more comfortable than the low and mid 100s of the last couple of days.
The general upper level pattern will promote more moisture returning to the area, fueling a mid level disturbance that could bring about a few showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening. The hot weather will become more completely scattered out by another cold front Sunday night into early Monday that will provide better ‘air conditioning’ as well as increased chances for rain to more locations.
The passage of that front will be like a breath of fresh air as much cooler conditions will be realized on Monday with afternoon highs leveling off in the lower 70s. Beyond that, look for a couple of days of 80+ degree weather before returning to the lower 90s next Thursday.
