One accident leads to another on Interstate 80 Sunday, near North Platte, with people hospitalized. The first accident happened at 2 p.m. just east of North Platte and sent five to the hospital. A Ford Fusion driven by a family from Lisco, Nebraska, ran into the back of a Chevy SUV driven by a man from Norfolk, Nebraska.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion were both taken to the hospital. Three people in the SUV were taken to the hospital all with non life threatening injuries.

A second accident happened just one hour later, which officials think is linked to the traffic stopped because of the 2 p.m. accident.

A Lincoln family was stopped on Interstate 80 west of North Platte

A semi driven by 64-year old Chris Burdeine, of Idaho, ran into the Lincoln family. Burdein and an 8-year old passenger in mini van went to the hospital with unknown injuries. Burdeine was ticketed for following too close.
